I agree with everything he wrote, except the ‘I don’t care’ part.

With this feature, Apple does their part to add Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt to any Mac app not downloaded from their App Store. In other words, Apple is saying “our curated apps are safer to use than the uncurated stuff you’ve been using for 20 years.”

Of course, curated apps from Path, Twitter, Foursquare and others have been stealing your address book. But pay no attention to that. The Mothership hath spoken.
